The Healthy Cooking Project

Food
Organised by:
Kentish Town

A chance to prepare and try healthy meals from around the world.

The Healthy Eating Cooking Project provided recipes and weekly food parcels, allowing residents to create healthy and interesting meals for the whole household.

This six week project helped to promote healthy eating and gave residents the chance to try foods they’d never tasted before.

Each week, we’d record a video tutorial and recipe card to show residents how to create the dishes at home.

How to make the healthy cooking recipes.

Here are the video tutorials in full for you to try at home.

Week 1: Somali
Week 2: Bhindi
Week 3: Veg Bolognese
Week 4: Rwanda Chicken and Salad
Week 5: Coleslaw, Potato Salad and Fried Chicken
Week 6: Ethiopian

This project fed 11 families providing 228 meals over the six weeks, with 100% of families feeding back this was helpful for their household.

This project launched a range of other healthy eating and cooking initiatives with Kentish Town Community Champions.

“I got to try and cook meals I never thought I could” "having free food each week was financially very helpful for my household" and "my diet and cooking habits have become more healthy"
