Connecting with Others

Reducing Loneliness
Organised by:
Kentish Town

Community Champions Kentish Town are working on lots of events and activities to help connect people in the area and reduce loneliness.

This project began as many residents and volunteers expressed how hard the pandemic has been on people's mental health, with those experiencing loneliness feeling even more isolated.

The first event we held was a series of interactive workshops with residents of Greenwood Sheltered Housing In Kentish Town. These workshops were led by fantastic students from Royal Central School of Speech and Drama who used participatory and creative exercises to build connections with others in a safe way. This was really well received by the residents who chose to have a celebration session at Kentish Town City Farm. This was one of the first trips the residents had been on since COVID-19 began and enjoyed meeting all the animals.

We expanded this work to become open access for the whole community, and we hosted our first 'Connecting with others Coffee Morning' which was a huge success. Residents from a variety of backgrounds came together to chat, share, bond, and make connections whilst enjoying fresh refreshments. This event was so successful we are now hosting monthly meet-ups, which you can sign up to here

Additionally, we are hosting weekly wellbeing walks which leave from Elfrida Rathbone Camden every Tuesday at 10am, which you can sign up to here

We also hold socials for our volunteers and aim to keep developing work which helps keep our community connected.
